Terms And Conditions

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions apply to all driving lessons and services provided by SP Driving School (“the Instructor”). The pupil is referred to as “the Client” throughout this document.

By booking or attending a lesson, you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions.

The aim of SP Driving School is simple: to provide safe, professional driving tuition in a calm, respectful, and supportive learning environment where clients can develop confidence as well as skill.

2. Licence Requirements

Before and during lessons, the Client must:

  • Hold a valid UK provisional or full driving licence.

  • Present their licence when requested.

  • Inform the Instructor of any changes affecting their ability to drive, including penalty points, bans, or relevant medical conditions.

Lessons cannot take place without a valid licence and may be cancelled without refund if these requirements are not met.

3. Fitness to Drive

Clients must arrive fit and ready to drive safely.

Lessons will not proceed if the Client appears to be:

  • Under the influence of alcohol or drugs (including medication affecting driving ability),

  • Unwell in a way that impacts safe driving,

  • Wearing unsuitable footwear or clothing.

If a lesson cannot continue for safety reasons, the full lesson fee remains payable.

4. Lesson Booking and Payment

  • Lessons are payable in advance unless agreed otherwise.

  • A lesson is considered booked once payment has been received.

  • The Instructor reserves the right to refuse or cancel lessons where payment has not been made.

  • Lesson prices may change occasionally; existing confirmed bookings will always be honoured at the agreed rate.

5. Cancellation Policy

Driving lessons involve reserved time that cannot usually be filled at short notice.

A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or rearrange a lesson.

  • Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged at the full lesson rate.

  • Cancellation notice must be given directly via text message, phone call, or email.

  • Social media messages cannot be relied upon for cancellations.

Genuine illness or emergencies are understood, and discretion may be applied where appropriate.

6. Late Arrival and Non-Attendance

  • Lessons start and finish at the agreed time.

  • If the Client is not ready within 10 minutes of the arranged start time, the lesson may be treated as a non-attendance and charged in full.

  • Time lost due to lateness cannot normally be added to the lesson.

If the Instructor is delayed, the time will be made up where possible or rearranged.

7. Lesson Conduct and Safety

Safety is always the priority during lessons.

Lessons may be ended immediately if behaviour compromises safety, including:

  • Abusive or aggressive behaviour,

  • Threatening or inappropriate language,

  • Refusal to follow safety instructions,

  • Any illegal activity.

In these situations, the lesson will end and no refund will be issued. Future lessons may also be declined.

8. Block Bookings (If Applicable)

Where lessons are purchased as a block:

  • Block bookings are valid for 12 months from the purchase date unless agreed otherwise.

  • Refunds for unused lessons are calculated using the standard hourly rate for lessons already taken.

  • Any promotional or discounted value may be removed when calculating refunds.

This ensures fairness for both parties.

9. Driving Tests and Use of Vehicle

The Instructor’s vehicle may be used for driving tests where appropriate.

  • Clients must be assessed as reaching a safe and consistent test standard.

  • The Instructor reserves the right to refuse use of the vehicle if safety concerns exist.

  • A suitable warm-up lesson before the test is normally required unless agreed otherwise.

These decisions are made solely in the interest of safety and giving the Client the best possible chance of success.

10. Instructor Cancellations

Occasionally lessons may need to be rearranged due to circumstances such as:

  • Illness,

  • Mechanical issues,

  • Severe weather,

  • DVSA test changes or cancellations,

  • Events outside the Instructor’s control.

Where this happens, lessons will always be rearranged as soon as reasonably possible.

11. Mechanical Failure and External Events

SP Driving School cannot be held responsible for lesson or test disruption caused by events beyond reasonable control, including vehicle breakdown, traffic incidents, weather conditions, or DVSA actions.

12. Refund Policy

Refunds may be issued at the Instructor’s discretion.

Refunds will not normally be provided for:

  • Late cancellations,

  • Non-attendance,

  • Lessons ended due to safety or behavioural concerns.

Approved refunds will be processed within a reasonable timeframe using the original payment method where possible.

13. Communication

Bookings and cancellations should be made using agreed communication channels.

Messages will be responded to during normal working hours where reasonably possible. Messages received outside these times may be answered the next working day.

14. Data Protection

Personal information is collected only for the purpose of providing driving tuition and managing bookings.

All data is handled in accordance with the SP Driving School Privacy Policy.

15. Liability

Every effort is made to provide safe, professional instruction at all times.

  • The Client remains responsible for complying with road traffic laws during lessons.

  • The Instructor cannot be held liable for indirect losses resulting from lesson or test cancellations beyond reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where it cannot legally be excluded under UK law.

16. Acceptance of Terms

Booking or attending a lesson confirms that the Client has read, understood, and accepted these Terms and Conditions.
